Lapel Pin Smedley Butler War Hero Peace Activist

*Smedley Darlington Butler was a United States Marine Corps major general, the highest rank authorized at that time, and at the time of his death the most decorated Marine in U.S. history.

He went on to be an outspoken opponent of war and military intervention, writing a groundbreaking book, "War is a Racket" illustrating how war is used as a profit machine for individuals and corporations while the lives of soldiers and civilians are canon fodder. His book was written in 1935 and is just a relevant today as it was then.

Starting with sheet steel, I affix and finish a paper image on to the surface with image transfer gels. The image is now UV protected and water resistant.

The lapel pin in finished with a butterfly, locking pin back closure.
